As you can see from the last picture, this didn't turn out quite as I had hoped. I was envisioning that the tubes would melt onto the knitting - instead, they splashed below onto the posters, leaving the blanket essentially pristine.

New toy (camera)

Say hello to my newest self-indulgent purchase -the noir Diana Mini.

Isn't she adorable? I need to spend some quality time with her before she gets her own name but I did consider it a sign that we were meant to be together when I saw that she has a picture of Gordon on the dial and I'm not even kidding.

For some reason I find her way less embarrassing to pull out than Felix the gf1, which does take amazing photos. I had her in my bag all weekend and uses her to take pictures of a birthday dance party, carpet, a carnivorous frog named Voodoo and the Occupy Toronto march (in both directions).

Taking pictures with her makes me feel like a reporter from the 40's.

Back to school

Few places make me feel like I'm about to have a really good think that will end in a really good idea like the Great Library.

Combine that generally feeling of anticipatory promise of intellectual greatness with a lunch withe the one Clarke Tedesco and being on the receiving end of an impassioned monologue about the hallucinogenic effects of Benylyn with the officer working the metal detector ("I just took a whole bing of it!" combined with the extra wide eyes of truth telling) and I'd have to say this day has been pretty great so far.

Sometimes you just gotta

Take yourself out for a romantic dinner for one.

I've been experiencing a seemingly insurmountable creative block for the last month or even longer, and over the past week or two I've really been trying to crack it. Steps taken thus far include throwing every unfinished project in the apartment out and cutting off most of my hair.

Tonight I decides to take myself out for a dimly lit glass of wine and dinner, no company, no book, no nothing, to think about what I (haven't) done - have am idea worth following through on in for fucking ever.

Rough Monday?

Oh, hey, thanks

Sometimes you are in Paris and everything is rad and you conclude that, in fact, maybe things couldn't possibly get any radder and then nature slaps you with a rainbow and you realize that you were wrong and that, for once, being wrong was also rad.

SWKFEMYS last stand

For our final performance, we moved this beauty of a sofa from Bathurst and Dupont to Bloor and Christie using nothing but our intrepidness and my longboard.

Good luck

Call me superstitious.

Go ahead.

Exhibit "A": (this is Mark's arm)

Exhibit "B": these are the drinks which Mark did not pay for

Thus, being shat upon by a bird has been shown to generate good luck in t minus 20 minutes or less.

True stories from yesterday

Yesterday, in the space of less than two blocks, I ripped a large and unsightly hole in my stockings, then got shat upon by a bird while I was inspecting the damage.

new york doll/manhattan skyline

Today, Kim and I went to Brooklyn. We had brunch at a Polish diner, then put doll up on the water.

It was exceptionally windy and cold down there.

Doesn't it look dramatic with the Manhattan skyline in the background?

Amsterdam

Naresh and I went to Amsterdam. We met up with Floor and Lori, who told us, in no uncertain terms, that the one not-to-be-missed-attraction/event in Amsterdam is Nemo, the children's science museum.

They were so serious that they even walked us there after it closed so that we wouldn't get lost when we went for real the next day.

They were so serious that we went.

We got inside bubbles and talked to a giant robot (but not at the same time).

vday ptay

In addition to cooking a seriously tasty tagine (after watching Jen and Sidne assemble a capital "s" seriously tasty chicken tagine in Paris) and some also seriously good chocolate chip cookies (in two consistencies and two sizes), today I also...

1) had some of my most favorite people over to eat the aforementioned and also drink several bottles of assorted red wine, as is only appropriate on Valentine's Day;

2) finally put on a fucking knife show (overdue since Christmas day); and

2) retrieved and assembled my new used knitting machine.
