Heavy books ruin more than my posture

My school books have ruined my backpack and my winter jacket. My backpack, which I love - it's all gravis and beige, and I love beige*. The "handles" on the zippers have come off, so now its really tough to close it AND the stitches attaching the zipper to the rest of the bag are starting to blow. Which, well, kinda blows.

My jacket, which is stupid in a funny way that I love, is a mid-shin length shiny grey down jacket. The bag is exceptionally heavy. I always put it on the left shoulder first, and I always drag it off my left shoulder onto the ground - I don't want to drop it because my computer is in there. The dragging has caused a hole to rip in the left arm. The final result (which is just noticed today) is that the feathers stuffing my jacket are exiting via my left armpit at a startling rate AND certain movements when I have the jacket on cause feathers to fly from my left armpit. It's like I am some weird sort of goose fairy who got the shittiest powers around - blowing-feathers-from-your-armpit powers.

*To the point of being called "beigeon" for a number of years because my snowboard stuff was all beige.
