I also just noticed that the hit counter just passed 2001. When I was in OAC, my best friend Christine and I decided to do our OAC music composition project to Space Odyssey 2001. We wanted to do it to the scene where the monkey throws the bone in the air - I think that was the only scene that either of us knew from the movie. We rented it and watched the whole thing - we spent the first bit on the edges of our chairs waiting for the monkey to throw the bone (it takes ages), and then kinda got into the movie, and ended up not speaking for days because we got into a huge argument over what the monolith was all about. She had a really intelligent and interesting perspective and she is now doing a Phd in film studies in England. I was just really stubborn and argumentative and now I am going to be a lawyer. Huh.
Anyways, we got over it and did the project to a scene from Clockwork Orange instead. It involved smashing a lot of things and 20 people didn't get to play anything but a rubber band.
