When I study for exams, I generally pick one playlist and that is all that I listen to from the beginning of exams until the end of exams. The theory goes that I get so used to the songs that I stop actually listening to the words or listening for which song comes next and that I get used to hearing them while I am studying so playing them puts me in a studying-kind-of-mood.
The problem, of course, is that this process ruins these songs for me. In third year I listened only to The Shins Oh Inverted World for Christmas exams, and couldn't listen to it for months later. Same with Interpol and Tortoise. While I have slowly reappropriated these albums for normal listening, it takes real time.
Another music-related problem I encounter during exams: my stupid headphones. I used to have a really nice pair of stereo headphones which I destroyed* by carelessly throwing them into my backpack with loads of textbooks. I never bought a new pair and right now I cannot afford not to. I use my ipod headphones, which shouldn't be a problem except for this: I have tiny ears. For real, I have child-sized ears, which leaves me with two options: either balance the stupid things on the edges of my ears (unstable) or cram them into my ears anyways (uncomfortable). *Sigh*. Oh well...18 days to go...
*Kate the destroyer: both awesome and accurate.
